The Union of Local Youth Councils in Finland organizes events and training courses. Most of these are aimed at members of local youth councils.

Our biggest event is called Aktiivipäivät, and it gathers around 200 members of local youth councils twice a year. The event is a weekend-long training session with two separate training programs: ABC and HC. ABC is designed for new members of local youth councils, HC is for more experienced members. The next weekend-long event will be held in the city of Kouvola (11.-13.10.2019) You can read more about the weekend here or contact us at

Events for experienced members

We also organize Aktiivipäivät Pro, a training course designed for experienced members of local youth councils who have already attended Aktiivipäivät HC. Each year 25 participants are chosen based on their applications.

Huipputapaaminen is an event organized for chairpersons of the local youth councils. The event has usually around 100 participants and this year it will be organized in June,  in the city of Tampere.

General Assembly

General Assembly is the highest decision-making body in our organization. The assembly is held once a year. Every member of the Union has a vote in the general assembly. The general assembly chooses a chair, two vice-chairs and between 4 and 10 board members for the period of one year. It also decides on the work plan and budget of the Union, and the membership fee for the coming year. Members of the board are the same age as the other members, so the Union is a genuine young people’s organization.

Besides these events, we organize a lot of small-scale events and meetings. We also have ten district organizations that organize local events themselves. Our district organizations are individually registered NGOs that co-operate closely with the Union of Local Youth Councils in Finland.
